We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting operations of our credit union located in Hawthorne, California. This role is ideal for a skilled individual with a strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance within the financial services industry. The successful candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills to mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team while ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions.
- Manage month-end and year-end financial close processes, delivering timely and accurate financial statements.
- Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts to support strategic financial planning.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making and organizational growth.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and maintain strong internal controls.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and growth.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial data and trends.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of required financial reports to regulatory agencies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in financial regulations and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience managing an accounting department within a financial institution.
- At least 5 years of experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and conducting financial analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- CPA certification is highly desired.
- Prior experience in the credit union or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and internal control standards in financial institutions.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing team members.
- Strong expertise in month-end close processes, budgeting, and forecasting.
