We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to lead the financial operations of our organization in Monterey, California. This role involves managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and delivering accurate financial reports. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting for detail-oriented services, trust account management, and regulatory compliance, preferably within a law firm environment.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger management, billing, collections, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with trust account regulations and state bar rules by managing client trust accounts effectively.
- Coordinate monthly and annual financial closing processes, producing timely and accurate financial reports.
- Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic planning.
- Monitor and improve internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff by assigning tasks, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Liaise with external tax professionals, banking institutions, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
- Manage cash flow, prepare financial statements, and oversee the firm’s financial reporting systems.
- Evaluate and recommend financial software solutions, including legal accounting tools like QuickBooks, Elite, Aderant, or Centerbase.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.At least 3 years of experience in accounting, with 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.Strong understanding of trust accounting and legal billing practices.Proficiency in month-end close processes, general ledger management, and account reconciliations.Experience preparing financial statements and conducting audits.Advanced knowledge of accounting software and financial tools, such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage staff and collaborate across departments.Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
