Description :

This position delegates responsibility to the Physical Therapist Assistant and Aides.

Activities of this position are patient-focused.

The role utilizes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with physical therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include evaluating the patient’s function by performing formal and informal testing measures.

This determines the skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status of patients.

You will develop a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s tolerance for carrying out the treatment plan as prescribed.

A written treatment regime must be submitted as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician.

You will update the plan of care as needed to reflect changes in patient status.

Co-signing verbal orders received from the physical therapist assistant as necessary is also required.

You will devise a schedule of treatment, which is frequency and duration-specific.

This schedule should be discussed with the patient, family, or caregiver and coordinated with clinical support staff.

Educating the patient, family, and / or caregiver regarding pathology or condition is a key responsibility.

You will provide information on patient alternatives, prognosis, and rationale for treatment through forms of rest, exercise, modalities, and other indicated interventions.
