The Corner Health Center is Michigan's first, largest and most comprehensive adolescent and young adult health center. The Corner provides high quality, judgment-free, affordable health and wellness care and education to youth and young adults ages 12 through 25 (and their children). We are proud to have over 45 years of experience providing integrated primary care and behavioral health, along with a host of specialties including gender affirming and LGBTQ care, allergy / immunology, adolescent health, gynecology, and care to individuals with complex needs. Our unique care model ensures no young person is ever turned away for inability to pay for their care.

Job Summary

The Corner Health Center seeks a Medical Assistant with experience in a community service and / or health care setting. This individual will work very closely with the clinic and patients. This is a non-exempt, full-time position 36 - 40 hours per week. This person will report directly to the Clinic Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Open and close the clinic, and prepare and restock exam rooms.
• Room patients and obtain vital signs and other pertinent information.
• Accurately perform essential lab duties including blood draw and in-house lab tests.
• Administer medication and vaccines.
• Assist clinicians during patient exams.
• Documents accurately in electronic health record.
• Maintain cleanliness of clinic. Disinfects exam rooms after patient visits, disinfects lab regularly, and ensures tidy and orderly clinic environment.
• Maintain clinic inventory and report status and needs to the operations and facilities manager.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care to patients.
• Attend the clinic and staff meetings.
• Commitment to the agency’s mission and DEI initiatives.
• Provide services in accordance with the MDHHS CAHC Minimum Program Requirements and grant guidelines.
• Perform front office duties including, but not limited to :

Scheduling patients, answering phones and routing calls to appropriate staff.

Working Conditions / Special Conditions

Patient care environment; frequent exposure to body fluids, infectious disease, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
