SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Process Engineer will be responsible for the design, operation and documentation of integrated systems for the production of high-quality, economically competitive products. These systems may include computer networks, production lines, robots, machine tools, materials-handling equipment and machine preventative maintenance under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing Operations. The PE leads the breakthrough reliability improvement of the process through, process control / process definition and quality improvement work. The PE is also responsible for loss elimination in breakthrough areas identified by the Loss Analysis as well as leading the department’s use of focus improvement tools.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Assist Production in reducing / eliminating equipment and tooling downtime and scrap, utilizing good analytical methodologies
- Lead Loss-to-Cause-to-Action work to address Reliability issues in the department.
- Responsible for developing and providing the Monthly Gap Analysis
- Owns machine technical game plan development and execution
- Familiar with DMS – Daily management system fundamentals with a strong focus on Centerline system
- Leads Process Optimization Work
- Develops and validates the appropriate centerlines for the equipment to run at (Improve efficiency and effectiveness)
- Builds Process control skills capability in the Operational Team
- Department single point contact for Initiatives
- Responsible for ensuring EO plans enable the operation to complete the EO.
- Disposition of hold / reject product for EO
- Drives CQV (Commissioning, Qualifying, and Validating) process for all initiatives and process changes
- The learnings sufficiently prepares the department for on-going production.
- Create Process Flow Diagrams, Operation Specs and maintains Preventative Maintenance documentation.
- Support and documents all product pilot development
- Conduct line trials in production (on-site customer presence)
- Designs work flow to meet or exceed labor standards and product cost standards utilizing good assembly methodologies and ergonomics
- Cultivate and maintain error-proofing methodologies
- Support facility and production enhancements
- Develop department or maintenance projects / activities with good engineering direction. Take part or facilitate the team lean strategies and methodologies and / or Six Sigma activities.
- Define appropriate use of QM (Quality Maintenance) for their department.
- Manage systemic issues with run to target & ppm and leads gap analysis and action plan. (PE owns managing run to target for their team).
- Facilitates Focused Improvements ( Owns FI pillar for their departments )
- Recognized expert of the FI tools for their department
- Leads and coaches / trains teams on FI execution.
- Assists in chartering FI teams
- Experts in Problem Solving Tools such as Fishbone, Cause & Effect & Why-Why analysis.
- Cost estimate and document all engineering, maintenance and production changes as required
- Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, or processes and systems
- Maintain and support all quality initiatives and programs related to engineering, maintenance and production departments
- Project management, organize and track project timelines, KPIs and progress
- Document all activities as required
- Conduct internal audits
- Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management
DIMENSIONS, TASKS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Review all new product introductions and manufacturing processes. Design and conduct pilot production and line trials to determine the best manufacturing process with regards to efficiency, safety and product quality. This will be accomplished by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, past production experience with like materials and soliciting observations from operators. To document, communicate, train and implement the line sets ups to efficiently produce a quality product at a competitive price. Performs other duties as assigned .

This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing Operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position is not a managerial role and does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time exempt role.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, or related fieldOr Equivalent ExperienceWORK EXPERIENCE
Working knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipmentExperience designing, operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining complex production machineryKnowledge of computer or PLC based machine control systems is desirableCAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is desirableKnowledge of Lean / Six Sigma theory and practices is desirableStrong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems and tools quicklyGood mechanical / technical skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsExperience working in a GMP environment preferredOTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Physical stamina to withstand eight or more hours on feet.
