Physical Therapist Assistant

The Physical Therapist Assistant conducts therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist in a professional manner and within hospital standards, a compliance plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies, and accrediting bodies.

The value you'll bring to the team :

  • Implements individualized treatment plans based on physical therapy evaluations and through consideration of practice standards, recommended techniques, insurance guidelines, and patient needs.
  • Modifies treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing assessments in consultation with physical therapist
  • Collects patient data and communicates with the physical therapists regarding discharge recommendations when maximum benefit has been achieved.
  • Documents patient care accurately, completely, and timely using measurable and objective terminology, following standards of practice, insurance guidelines, and department / hospital policies.
  • Charges patients accurately and timely according to CPT code format, price file, and insurance guidelines.
  • Oversees the care provided by rehabilitation aides according to established regulations and practice standards, and may involve coordinating activities of rehabilitation aides, students, and other support personnel
  • Evaluates and interprets patient data relative to age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms, modifying approaches and communication skills accordingly.
  • Identifies the need for patient and caregiver education, utilizing opportunities for teaching and documenting understanding as appropriate.
  • Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports departmental quality standards and initiatives.
  • Maintains clinical competencies through professional development, best practices, and serving as a clinical instructor.
  • Meets productivity standards as defined by the department.
  • Adapts to changes in patient census by adjusting working hours and assisting in other centers or programs as approved by the manager.
  • Practices principles of employee and patient safety during daily job activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed :

REQUIRED :

  • BLS Basic Life Support
  • State of Florida Certified Physical Therapist Assistant License (PTA) or Temporary Physical Therapist Assistant License (PTAT).
