The Policy Manager over the Child Protective Investigative and Abuse Hotline disciplines within the OCFW Policy Unit is a highly responsible position that requires analytical skills to address complex systematic problems associated with child welfare policies and procedures statewide. This professional works to ensure compliance with both state and federal child welfare laws and participates, facilitates and presents at statewide and federal meetings associated with various child welfare topics, assists with the strategic planning of both state and federal initiatives and is responsible for the implementation and on-going supports of these initiatives.
This position represents the Department and the Office of Child & Family Well-Being at meetings, confereces, committes, subcommittees, and workgroups. Assists in the development, implementation and on-going supports associated with the Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) to ensure functionality aligns with state and federal requirements.
This is professional work supervising and directing employees; including but not limited to communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as : hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, and reward or discipline direct reports. Evaluates employees against established standards and takes appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.).
This position requires strong written and oral communication skills, time management skills, supervisory skills, knowledge of Child Protective Investigative and Abuse Hotline policy and practice, and the ability to work collaboratively to coordinate internal and external teams to solve problems and provide guidance on Agency programs, policies, and projects.
