Salary : $20 - $26
The CNC Operator is responsible for producing high-quality parts and components that support Altecs equipment manufacturing for the veneer and plywood industry. This role requires precision, mechanical aptitude, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards. The CNC Operator will set up, program, and operate CNC machinery to fabricate parts according to specifications, while maintaining equipment and ensuring efficient shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Compliance : Follow all company safety rules, regulations, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
- Machine Setup & Operation : Prepare, program, and operate CNC machines (milling, drilling, grinding, etc.) to meet production requirements.
- Blueprint & Specification Review : Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and job specifications to determine machining requirements and desired outcomes.
- Programming & Testing : Translate instructions into CNC programs, conduct test runs, and adjust programs or tools to achieve precise results.
- Material Handling : Load raw materials and parts into machines, ensuring accurate placement and preparation for machining.
- Production Execution : Run machines through full cycles, monitor output, and make real-time adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Quality Control : Inspect and measure finished parts against specifications using precision tools, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Equipment Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on CNC equipment to ensure ongoing functionality and reliability.
- Collaboration : Work closely with shop supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and resolve issues promptly.
- Continuous Improvement : Contribute ideas to improve processes, increase efficiency, and reduce waste in CNC operations.
Requirements & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in CNC machining is an asset.Proven experience as a CNC operator in a manufacturing environment.Proficiency with CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and CAD / CAM instructions.Mechanical aptitude with solid math skills for measurements and calculations.Computer literacy and basic programming knowledge (CAD / CAM preferred).Keen attention to detail with a results-driven approach.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
