COMPANY DESCRIPTION : Union Rescue Mission (URM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY : The Learning Center Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operations and use of Learning Center facilities to support the educational and transformational goals of Union Rescue Mission (URM) guests and program participants. This role ensures the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of programs in collaboration with Life Transformation and Emergency Services teams. The coordinator serves as a key client-provider facing liaison, helping align educational services with the overall mission and outcomes of URM.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Oversee and evaluate daily operations during Learning Center hours, including classes and special events.
- Provide support and guidance to individuals with varying levels of computer, reading, and general learning literacy.
- Maintain respectful and effective communication with both internal teams and external partners and fostering strong interdepartmental collaboration to maximize the impact of each Learning Center.
- Cultivate relationships with local service providers to expand educational and employment opportunities for URM guests.
- Specialize in educational program tracts and site relationships, frequenting school and trade programs in support of effective after program care and support.
- Participate in relevant meetings and prepare and present case notes, student progress reports, and attendance updates.
- Lead and align program objectives to general educational sessions, external partnerships, and volunteer tutors.
- Motivate guest enrollment and consistent attendance with partnering entities including but not limited to, adult schools, job training programs, trade programs, and other educational services.
- Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of curriculum, assessments, standardized tests, and surveys.
- Facilitate learning sessions or classes, as needed.
- Conducts other tasks and projects assigned by the Learning Center Director.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Associate or bachelor's degree, preferred.Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an educational setting, required.Minimum of 1 year of experience in counseling, mentorship, or recovery-related work, preferred.Minimum 3 years of directly related job experience may be considered in place of formal education, subject to review.Must have reliable transportation and a valid California Driver's License.Must meet eligibility requirements to be added to URM's auto insurance.Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, a plus.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
