Overview
The Audio Patent Engineer will build and maintain their patent portfolio working closely with R&D and the rest of the Multimedia Patenting team. They should be able to utilise their technical skills to support other Patenting teams involved in licensing and / or litigation projects. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of audio codecs (e.g. EVS, AMR, AAC, MPEG-H, MPEG-I, IVAS) and preferably some knowledge of Patenting. You will be working in a team with patent professionals located globally.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating ideas, reviewing invention disclosures, and collaborating with inventors.
- Filing and prosecuting patent applications.
- Securing granted patent applications with claims aligned with the relevant audio coding specifications.
- Overseeing and managing a personal patent portfolio.
- Performing prior-art search and validity analysis on patents in speech / audio coding technology areas.
- Collaborating with other Nokia Technology teams involved in licensing and litigation.
Qualifications
You should have :
Expertise in audio codecs (e.g. EVS, AMR, AAC, MPEG-H, MPEG-I, IVAS).Experience in cellular communications and 3GPP standard.Broad knowledge of audio research and audio technology applications in virtual reality, augmented reality, immersive audio.Excellent communication, writing, and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Nice to have
PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar area.Patenting experience, e.g. claim charting.Attendance and contribution to MPEG and / or 3GPP standardization meetings.#J-18808-Ljbffr
