This position will ensure work completed by others within FDOT right-of-way meets all standards and is permitted through the Department. This position will also be responsible for on-site inspections. This position should maintain awareness of others doing work within the right-of-way that has not been approved by the Department and not permitted.

Annual Salary Range : $42,791.82 - $55,377.65
Your Specific Responsibilities : Perform independent complex technical assignments to accomplish inspection and monitoring of work activities performed within the state Right of Way. Verifies that work is performed according to all State and Federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes, and rules. Performs approved testing techniques through the use of hand tools, gauges, and / or instruments to ensure materials used conform to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements.
Perform interpretation of governing documents related to authorized Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) device usage, installation / placement, and materials to ensure safe work zones. Reviews work site activities for conformity to safety regulations and takes corrective measures when deficiencies are noted.
Prepares records and reports for work completed and other related documents accurately and in a timely manner. Prepares all documentation in order to validate payments to roadway contractors.
Conducts surveys of signs, guardrail, and attenuators as required by procedures. Provides survey of roadway items to be inventoried for Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI). Fills out data coding sheet and enters roadway data into computer data base as needed. Gathers data and performs preliminary reviews for maintenance contract needs. Assists in the preparation of maintenance contracts. Prepares specifications as needed for use in maintenance contracts.
Conducts / attends pre-work conferences on maintenance contracts and attends / conducts meetings with contractors / utility owners / permitees throughout life of projects as assigned. Acts as a representative of the Department on all issues related to contracts and permits. Issues work documents on contracts as directed.
Performs plans reviews for constructability and adherence to Department Standards and specifications. Provides comments on Department policies and procedures as requested.
Assembles payment packages for contracts in accordance with established processes. Assist in identifying and producing documents in relation to public records request.
Prepares project correspondence and records as necessary during the administration of contracts through the use of various computer programs. Enters / assist with the preparation of documents to be added to the electronic document management system as required.
