The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for performing a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including preparing patients for procedures, assisting the dentist during procedures, taking x-rays, and maintaining patient records. Coordinates recruitment and scheduling of volunteer dentists. Maintains dental supplies and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Dental Assistant certificate required. Radiation Safety Certificate Required. High School Diploma or GED required. Knowledge of filing procedures and practices.
RDA Certification required. Two years of experience as an RDA in a dental office.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Fluency in English a must; bilingual Spanish a plus.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to carriers of contagious diseases such as TB, AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases. The employee may have to deal with irate and irrational clients who may or may not be under the influence of mind-altering substances such as cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, etc.
