Senior Housing Options, Inc ., a non-profit providing affordable, safe housing and care for seniors and people with disabilities, has a great opportunity for an Activities Coordinator to join our team.. The Activities coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all resident activities creating an engaging and interactive environment for our residents. This position will also oversee an active volunteer program and serve as a facility liaison to promote community interaction. This position may support other functions within the facility and complete other duties as needed in accordance with regulations as directed by the Administrator.

Essential Functions :
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising all resident activities creating an engaging and interactive environment for our residents. This position will also oversee an active volunteer program and serve as a facility liaison to promote community interaction. This position may support other functions within the facility and complete other duties as needed in accordance with regulations as directed by the Administrator.
Essential Functions :
Plan, schedule and coordinate leisure activity programs to meet the variety of interest and the physical, cognitive, and psycho-social needs of all residentsDevelop activity programs to allow all residents to participate within their capabilitiesInform the residents and staff and administration of the current schedule of planned activities; develop facility calendars, flyers, posters or newsletters as directedComplete an evaluation of each resident regarding past and present leisure interests, abilities, limitations and needs; this shall serve as a basis from which the activity program shall be developedMaintain timely progress notes specific to the resident's activity participation; retain records in organized mannerAct to promote team work in providing the best possible resident care and servicesMaintain professional working relationships with all personnel, residents and familiesOperate resident activities within the budget allocated by the administratorEstablish an active volunteer program which includes the recruiting, screening, orienting, training and supervising of volunteersServe as a facility liaison to promote positive community support and involvement in the facilityReport any accident / incident or hazards, no matter how insignificantMaintains activities equipment in proper working condition to ensure the safety of our staff and residentsAdhere to all resident rights, including, privacy, confidentiality, and treating residents with dignity and respectMaintain confidentiality of all resident care informationPerform other duties as assignedWork Environment :
Sitting, standing and walking throughout the day with intermittent drivingUsing office equipment such as computer, mouse, keyboard, printerIndoor office environment, temperature controlled; may perform duties outside in cold or hot temperaturesComfortable using and climbing on step stoolsCertain activities may require repetitive movements including climbing, crawling, crouching, pulling, pushingMay be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions including HIV and Hepatitis B viruses.Requirements : Competencies :

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors’ Degree in related field preferred2-4 years’ progressive working experience in a healthcare environment requiredExperience working with elderly activities and the special needs of the elderly population preferredCertified activities professional preferredAbility to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional levelAbility to organize, supervise and direct others that may or may not directly report to this positionThis position may transport residents in a company vehicle, as such a valid driver's license is requiredQMAP and First Aid certification required; if not currently certified must have ability to become certifiedRequired Hours :
32 hours a week 9am-4pmOne weekend day required
