Job Summary :
Responsible for and assists with all communication duties essential for the protection of patients, public, staff and hospital property. Train new personnel in the functions of a communications technician. In-service employees on procedural changes. Answers phones, monitors both internal and external alarm systems, monitor video surveillance systems and dispatches officers as required. Communicates with public safety officials from law enforcement, fire and EMS as needed and provides necessary information to aid in safety and protection of patients, public, staff and hospital property. Process identification badges and completes data entry into the Security Services productivity monitoring system. Reports to Communication / Security site Supervisor.

Required Minimum Education :
High school diploma GED equivalent.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) :
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) and Certification(s) :
Required Minimum Experience :
Minimum 1 year previous dispatch / communication experience preferred.
Required Minimum Skills :
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Proficiency with dispatching through computer aided dispatch system (CAD) Data entry skills necessary to complete incident reports, identification badges and related documents. Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively with the public in a courteous, professional and tactful manner. Must be able to accept responsibility, manage authority and maintain confidentiality.
