Compensation Advisor

The Compensation Advisor will participate in the design, development, implementation, and administration of the compensation programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent while ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of compensation practices in the oil and gas industry and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment. They will report to the Manager, Human Resources.

The Compensation Advisor will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, analysis, and administration of base salary structures, incentive programs, and other compensation initiatives.
• Participate in job evaluations, job leveling, and titling to ensure consistency across the organization.
• Prepare compensation proposal for external hires, internal promotions.
• Provide ongoing consultation and subject-matter expertise to HR Business Partners, including compensation-related policies, programs, practices, and administration.
• Conduct global market benchmarking and salary surveys, including analysis, reporting, and program recommendations.
• Lead the company-wide annual compensation review including the development of the compensation review planning calendar, training, and communication materials.
• Prepare compensation analytics, reports, and presentations for senior leadership.
• Represent Murphy at industry peer groups and continually monitor external competitive practices, policy changes, and benchmarks through independent research and networking with peers.
• Lead specific compensation projects and initiatives as required. These will vary in size, scope, and duration and may be individual or team based.
• Develop communication materials to enhance awareness and understanding of compensation initiatives with HR Business Partners and line leaders.

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous / extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
