Sr Data & Analytics Consultant – Apex Systems

Location : Onsite, Richmond, VA

Duration : ASAP – 12 / 17 / 25 (contract / contract to hire)

Hours : Mon-Fri 8-5

Salary : Greater Richmond Region $240,000.00-$285,000.00

Job Description

As the most senior member of the business-data analyst family, you will partner with senior business leaders to provide strategy consultancy, design and deliver business-intelligence solutions, and formulate viable options for key business decisions. You will lead complex projects and mentor junior analysts, ensuring the application of advanced analytical techniques from descriptive to prescriptive analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with senior leaders to understand strategic initiatives and identify key data points and analytical approaches that demonstrate value.
  • Develop and deliver rich, actionable statistical analyses to inform leadership decisions.
  • Provide technical direction, analytical coaching, and inspection of work for junior analysts.
  • Lead ongoing development of BI data and analytical capabilities, including content creation, mentoring, and training of analysts.
  • Design and build management-information solutions : ad-hoc data-analysis requests, recurring reports, high-complexity dashboards, visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), and business-decision models.
  • Develop forecasts, predictive and prescriptive analytics to support scenario planning and business objectives, documenting, testing, validating, and maintaining models per governance policies.
  • Prepare original descriptive and diagnostic analyses and visualizations; communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

Position Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., applied mathematics, statistics, data analytics, finance, economics, computer science, MIS, business administration).
  • Minimum 5 years of professional data-and-analytics experience working in a provider-to-business leadership relationship.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive mastery across the full analytics spectrum (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive).
  • Strong SQL skills and expert knowledge of database and data-management practices.
  • Creator / Power User expertise in Tableau or Power BI; aptitude to master both.
  • Proficiency in desktop applications : Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira, and others.
  • Exceptional business-analytics knowledge, strategic and analytical thinking, communication, presentation skills, and results orientation.
  • Highly skilled in consultation and the ability to lead multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Depending on the business area, specialized knowledge or skills may be required.
