Since 1963, Sheakley has been a leader in safety management outsourcing. We are seeking a skilled Construction Safety Manager to oversee safety operations for our client in West Allis, WI. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional with strong training capabilities and a background in electrical and MEP construction.
Position Details
Salary : $80,000 – $120,000 annually (up to $130,000 for the ideal candidate)
Schedule : Monday – Friday, 40–50 hours / week (1st shift, 6 : 00 AM – 2 : 30 PM or 7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM)
Benefits : Full insurance and benefits package
Company Provided : Laptop; Company truck (if not available, vehicle allowance provided)
Travel Expectations : 75% field, 25% office; projects within 1-hour radius of HQ; minimal overnight travel (≤5%)
Project Scope
The Safety Manager will support a union company with a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial clients. Core work includes electrical, plumbing, and HVAC services, with projects ranging from school remodels and high-rise construction to Uline warehouses, healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants, retail, restaurants, and multifamily builds.
This is a boots-on-the-ground role requiring leadership, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to coach and inspire a strong safety culture across multiple concurrent projects.
Qualifications
Mandatory : OSHA 30 and 5+ years of construction safety experience
Preferred : OSHA 500 or BCSP certifications (CHST, CSP, etc.)
Experience delivering training or train-the-trainer certification (OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, aerial lift)
Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and NFPA 70E
Familiarity with grounding, hot work permits, and general construction safety practices
Electrical / MEP safety experience strongly preferred
Valid driver's license required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software tools
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Prior experience with OSHA audits, safety manual creation, JSA review, and toolbox talks
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement safety policies and site-specific plans
Conduct jobsite audits, inspections, and risk assessments
Lead new-hire and ongoing field training programs
Deliver toolbox talks and OSHA / NFPA 70E / aerial lift training sessions
Collaborate with field staff and management to enforce safe work practices
Monitor safety logs, JSAs, and update manuals as required
Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning
Partner with OSHA auditors during onsite inspections
Promote a strong safety culture through coaching and field engagement
