Supervisor, Laboratory

Pay Range : $115,000-$125,000 annually

Supervises, coordinates, directs and performs technical activities in their assigned area / specialty of the Clinical Laboratory. Works with delicate instruments, hazardous chemicals and body fluids from diseased patients. Obtains data for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Interfaces with staff and Laboratory Management to maintain hospital and departmental goals, policies, procedures, quality improvement and safety. Pursuant to established and approved protocols of the department of health, performs clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or procedures conducted by a clinical laboratory, including maintaining equipment and records, and performing quality assurance activities related to examination performance and which require the exercise.

Education / Training : BS / BA in a laboratory science or AAS Degree and confirmed eligibility as a supervisor according to NYSDOH law is required. Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Experience : Three (3) years experience as a practicing Medical Technologist in assigned area under a licensed, board certified Pathologist required with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.

Licensure, Registration or Certification : NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required, MT(ASCP) is desirable.
