Patient Service Representative

This position involves coordinating and facilitating new referrals and admissions by collaborating with nurses, customer service, and distribution teams. The role requires conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patient, drug, and disease information to identify potential drug-related issues or needs. The representative will answer inquiries from patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, escalating to a clinician as necessary, and maintain thorough documentation in patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate new referrals and admissions in collaboration with nurses, customer service, and distribution.
  • Conduct and document assessments of specific patient, drug, and disease information.
  • Escalate issues to a clinician when needed.
  • Answer inquiries from patients, families, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of clinical activities and communications.
  • Coordinate and schedule preparation of IV therapies and home medical equipment orders with Pharmacists.
  • Assist Pharmacists, Nurses, Technicians, and Patient Care Coordinators in patient care activities.
  • Prepare labels, prescriptions, and compounding / mixing worksheets.
  • Generate delivery / pick slips under Pharmacist supervision.
  • Obtain supply inventories from patients / clients and communicate to the Pharmacist.
  • Participate in branch management, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities.
  • Adhere to all relevant accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local, and federal regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Customer service experience.
  • Proficiency in data entry and pharmacy operations.
  • Familiarity with MS Suite (Excel, Word, Teams) and EMR systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Patient care experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with patient registration and medical terminology.
  • Pharmacy technician certification preferred.
  • Healthcare and call center experience.
  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Open to candidates with or willing to obtain a provisional pharmacy technician license.
  • Previous pharmacy experience.
  • Work Environment

    The work environment consists of a collaborative team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, with a ratio of 2 Patient Service Representatives to 1 Pharmacist. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 AM to 6 : 00 PM, with opportunities for additional Saturday shifts at a pay differential. The role offers opportunities for growth, such as advancement to Regional Director or management levels, annual merit increases, and the chance to work with a leading home infusion provider in the country.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centennial, Colorado.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00 / hr.
