The Women's Place provides family centered care to approximately 4,000 obstetric and newborn patients at UVA Medical Center each year. It is comprised of 40 private rooms located within 8E, 8N, and 8C at University hospital. There are 4 OB triage rooms, 8 labor-delivery-recovery suites, 2 operating rooms, 12 mother-baby rooms, 13 high-risk antepartum / postpartum rooms, and a newborn procedural area. As both a community and high risk referral center, these services are complimented by a renowned Neonatal Intensive Care unit and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants. The most common medical diagnosis are gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm labor, placenta previa / abruption, chorioamnionitis, newborn jaundice, newborn hypoglycemia, and preterm birth. The usual nurse to patient ratio is 2 : 1 for the operating room, 1 : 1-2 for LDR, 1 : 2-4 for MB, HR-AP, PP, and Triage. The Women's Place has achieved both a Baby Friendly Designation as well as an Honor Roll Status from the Immunization Action Coalition.
TIME TYPE : FULL TIME (3, 12 hr shifts per week) SHIFT : NIGHTS (19 : 30-07 : 00)
Performs a variety of patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of a Medical Center Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Spends majority of time in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. Opportunities for progression outside this career stream are typically limited without additional education or significant training and experience. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through training and / or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care areas. Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education. Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education : High School Graduate or Equivalent
Experience : No experience required
Licensure : American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia OR must meet one of the following criteria (required) :
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires frequently bending / stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift / push / pull 20 - 50lbs and >
100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood / body fluids and infectious disease
Position Compensation Range : $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly
