The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology, and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.

What You Will Do Support the department by creating moderately complex mechanical, electrical, or electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations using CAD or manual systems.

Compile Bills of Materials; assist in the assembly of prototypes.

Draw multiple views; depict relationships of components and parts; identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials; prepare bills of material and specifications; create documentation required and process Engineering Change Orders; ensure adherence to quality and cost parameters; use CAD systems.

Ensure quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by : assisting in building or acquiring prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making calculations such as strength of materials, weights, forces, and stresses, often using charts and tables; analyzing proposed changes for fit and interference issues; recommending solutions or alternatives; modifying drawings; consulting with engineers; and following company policies.

Provide guidance to less experienced drafters by communicating priorities, offering technical assistance, and verifying work accuracy.

Maintain CAD equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs as needed.

Education & Experience Requirements Associate’s degree or equivalent plus 4+ years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of engineering and design practices and procedures.
