The City of Happy Valley is looking for an energetic part-time (21hours / week) Library Assistant who will provide excellent customer service in the fast pace and high-volume Library. While library experience is a preferred qualification, other types of work history are strongly considered, including (but not limited to) retail, food service, and warehouse experience. This position is not eligible for medical / dental benefits but does receive prorated vacation, sick leave and holiday pay. Anticipated Schedule : Fridays, 11 : 35am-6 : 05pm, Saturdays, 9 : 35am-6 : 05pm, Mondays, 10 : 35am-6 : 05pm
In addition to the part-time position, the City may use this candidate pool to fill additional on-call vacancies for Library Assistant I.
The Happy Valley Library is the community living room. It serves more than 25,000 visitors and circulates almost 60,000 books each month, as part of the LINCC network of libraries. The library circulates more youth materials and foreign language items than any other branch in Clackamas County. We also offer a wide range of diverse programming for all ages.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine paraprofessional and clerical library duties to meet and assist the diverse needs of the public in the effective use of the library and its systems; provides excellent customer service at the circulation desk.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Library Assistant I is distinguished from the Library Aide by performing customer service in person and over the phone to the public. The Library Assistant reports to the Library Operations Supervisor.
