Overview
Registered Nursing Consultant - 80003511 at the State of Florida, Department of Juvenile Justice. This position provides nursing consultation and technical assistance to the South Region detention centers and serves as a liaison regarding health-related issues within the region.
Location : Office of Health Services – Southeast Region : St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Broward, Dade, Collier, Lee Counties. Salary : $3,030.58 bi-weekly + CAD of $120.80 (bi-weekly). Posting closing date : 12 / 05 / 2025.
Responsibilities
- Provide complex nursing consultation and technical assistance to health care providers to ensure adherence to department policies, procedures, rules, and related instructional materials.
- Offer day-to-day operational oversight and recommendations to licensed health care providers; serve as an expert resource to health care professionals, facility management staff, and other applicable staff.
- Act as Office of Health Services liaison with Regional Detention Offices on health-related issues, health program development, planning, and problem resolution in consultation with Headquarters.
- Review medical histories of youth pending placement for recommendations based on youth needs.
- Provide on-site and off-site technical assistance and monitoring for state-operated and provider-operated health services programs.
- Assist with development and maintenance of department policy and rules affecting healthcare delivery to youth served by the department.
- Participate in community and state meetings or boards that support the Department and healthcare services.
- Review and approve reports, corrective actions, and other medical documentation within electronic systems used to document healthcare provided in facilities.
- Serve as a technical advisor in the procurement of health services provider contracts.
Qualifications
Active, valid Registered Nurse license in Florida (Chapter 464 F.S.).Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement nursing processes; strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and coordinate with others.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to create PowerPoint presentations; strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.Ability to conduct research and formulate policy recommendations.Preferred Qualifications
5+ years nursing experience in Florida.Experience in a clinical setting with children or young adults.Knowledge of medical compliance and medical chart reviews; background in Nursing Administration; Bachelor of Science in Nursing.Special Notes
