Salary : Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Utility Worker to join our team at Meehan Inc. This role is essential for supporting various construction activities, including excavation and utility installation. The Utility Worker will contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality solutions while maintaining safety and efficiency on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of heavy machinery such as bulldozers and excavators.
• Perform utility locating tasks to ensure safe excavation practices.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various construction tasks.
• Support the installation of drainage systems and erosion control measures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment on construction sites.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
• Lead construction activities for overhead transmission line installation, including
• Pulling conductor wire
• Ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and utility safety standards.
• Maintain accurate field logs and records for QA / QC and environmental compliance.
• Implement and monitor erosion and sediment control (ESC) per SWPPP and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate compliance with environmental permits and cultural resource protections.
• Oversee matting, tree clearing, access restrictions, and restoration efforts.

Requirements

Experience operating heavy machinery.

Familiarity with utility locating techniques is preferred.

Proficient in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

Ability to work in challenging environments and adhere to safety standards.

Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Lineman background (required) Must have hands-on or supervisory experience in :

Pulling wire

Setting foundation poles

Understanding energized line hazards and safe rigging practices.

Minimum 5 years of experience managing utility transmission or heavy civil infrastructure.

Strong working knowledge of :

Overhead and underground utility systems

Pipe and duct bank installation

ROW access and maintenance

Earthwork and heavy equipment logistics

Environmental compliance procedures
