Job Details
Clinical Nurse role providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to oncology patients at the Cancer Center, Mount Sinai Hospital.
Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
Assesses and evaluates patient care needs, applies critical thinking in patient care management.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in care planning and evaluation.
Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
Educates patients and caregivers about care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
Communicates professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care practices including Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, HELP AM / PM Care, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, Discharge Wrap Up, and MD / RN Unit Collaboration.
Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in care.
Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
Uses evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
Initiates service recovery and escalates concerns appropriately.
Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to improve patient care understanding.
Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.
Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in oncology patient population.
Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors and ensure patient safety.
Escalates potential safety hazards following institutional protocols.
Documents nursing practice using institutional information technology to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements
Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure required.
Competency in oncology nursing care.
Ability to apply nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
Critical thinking skills in patient care management.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams.
Ability to educate patients and caregivers.
Experience with Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.
Knowledge of quality and safety practices in nursing.
Familiarity with institutional policies and procedures for patient care and safety.
