Primary Purpose :
Supervise the daily operations of the school cafeterias. Step in when a cafeteria may need assistance to fulfill daily operation, i.e., cashering, cooking, managing, etc., to ensure the kitchen and school has a successful day.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
Five plus years of experience as school nutrition manager.
Certified Food Manager Certification.
Working knowledge of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program.
Working knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and appliances used in food preparation.
Working knowledge of principles and practices for supervision and training.
Working knowledge of quantity food production including preparation and service, storage, sanitation and safety.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Possess a Texas Driver's License and be insurable by District Auto Insurance Carrier.
Experience with a variety of computer applications including POS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to interpret and apply state law, local policy and administrative procedure
Ability to compile and analyze data
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing, and preparation of quantity foods
Experience :

Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Child Nutrition Operations
Serve as supervisor over cafeteria managers by overseeing employee training, daily operations, and procedures of all school cafeterias.
Demonstrate knowledge of all cafeteria areas, including but not limited to cold prep, cook, cashiering, serving and dishwashing.
Develop and provide instruction for School Nutrition employees in observation of safety practices and sanitation.
Coordinate and perform new employee orientation.
Maintain standards and meet Federal requirements of nutrition, HACCP / sanitation, health and safety through inspection and site reviews and evaluations of schools.
Monitor food production efficiency and assist managers with monthly inventories.
Acquire and maintain CN labels, review production records and recipes
Supervise and manage the campus school nutrition operation in the absence of the School Nutrition Manager.
Organize and provide sites with School Nutrition projects, initiatives, and promotions such as National School Lunch and Breakfast Week, CN Employee Appreciation, and special events / menus, etc.
Assist School Nutrition Director with student nutrition education and samples.
Assist School Nutrition Director with planning and preparing staff development and meetings covering all areas of the Child Nutrition Program.
Assist School Nutrition Director with department catering requests.
Assist School Nutrition Director with menu planning and recipes.
Assist School Nutrition Director with arranging modified dietary needs of students prescribed by physicians.
Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
