Job Description

SUMMARY :

This position reports directly to the Ink Department Lead and Department Manager. Function is to reduce press ink toning, and reduce deadhead ink waste. This position is responsible for performing ink toning / adjustments noted from ink techs, and improving formulas to use reclaim ink as first priority. On night shifts color matching and formulation maybe have to be done based on press schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Formulator - Is responsible for preforming all stripe testing and draw-downs of the jobs on the schedule and making sure that the formulation is correct for the ink matcher. The formulator is responsible for checking the schedule throughout the shift to make sure no changes occur and that the ink being made is up to date to what is needed on press.

Each job on the schedule will be stripped tested and all adds will be documented to the formula for future runs. (Draw-downs will be required in the future) This is will be placed in job folder and initial and dated.
Make sure that all ink formulas are under a Delta E of 1 for each color per job on a 24hr schedule
Provide the appropriate paperwork for each color per job.
Track and adjust adds made by ink tech on press to the current formula

Color Matcher – Will mix and colors provided by formulator and prep inks for each press.

The color mixer will take formula information from the formulator for each job and match to a delta E less than 1 to maintain accuracy.

Apply ink chip and appropriate paperwork to each bucket of ink, and stage in the designated area for each press.

Weigh and report all returned inks from the press.

Add returned ink into appropriate work off barrels

Clean mixers and buckets / drums and maintain the color mixing area.

Each shift is responsible for washing the mixing area down and cleaning the equipment / tools at the end of each shift.

Minimum Requirements

Lead by example as a positive, team-oriented employees

High School diploma or GED required.

Must be capable of performing mathematical calculations and maintain accurate detailed written records.

Must be capable of scoring 24 or less in total errors on the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue Test.

Able to carry out written and oral instructions.

Possess basic math skills – add, subtract, read tape measure, use calculator.
