Advertised Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Faculty Director of the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC), the Taxpayer Staff Attorney manages legal representation, including administrative disputes with the IRS, litigation in Tax Court and Federal courts, and other taxpayer education and advocacy for LITC client cases and other legal matters. They provide legal services to LITC clients while collaborating with clinic faculty, paralegals, staff, and students. The LITC Staff Attorney will also participate in outreach, client development efforts, and taxpayer education for underserved communities.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and 2 or more years of experience as a practicing attorney.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer that a candidate have at least three years of practice experience with sufficient tax law expertise to perform and oversee the substantive and procedural aspects of client representation in controversies with the IRS. Desire a candidate with a commitment to or demonstrated record of institutional or public service. Service to the School of Law and University is expected and may include relevant extracurricular activities.
