Top Secret Maintenance Group Supervisor
Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 437th Maintenance Group. Develops goals and objectives that integrate aerial port and aircraft maintenance functional objectives.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Serves as the senior civilian official for the group and is responsible for overall guidance and direction to the civilian workforce.
Represents the MXG in a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with Air Force Material Command (AFMC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), and the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) leaders.
Plans, directs, and administers all logistics support requirements to operate the installation's aerial port and aircraft maintenance complex.

The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively
This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW : DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve")
May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and / or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and / or irregular hours. May be subject to on-call or recall due to contingencies or emergencies.
May be required to fly in military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty (TDY) assignments.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime / contingency operations.
Incumbents of key position must be removed from their military recall status is alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for Equipment Facilities and Services Series 1601. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance and of all aerial port operations; Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures; Knowledge of troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, overhaul and modification of major weapon systems.
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level.
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and / or competencies in the following areas : 1. Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance. 2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Ability to plan, organize, direct the functions, mentor, motivate, and appraise a highly diverse staff and workforce through subordinate supervisors. 4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. 5. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in relations with individuals, groups, and unit organizations. 6. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
