Senior Payroll Specialist
Job Summary
An established and rapidly growing organization based in Worcester County, MA is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for several hundred employees. This is a critical role within the HR / Finance team, requiring a high level of attention to detail, compliance knowledge, and a drive for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly / bi-weekly payroll for employees, including those working under prevailing wage contracts.
- Maintain compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, Service Contract Act (SCA), and / or applicable state prevailing wage laws.
- Calculate and apply fringe benefits correctly (cash or bona fide benefit plans).
- Review certified payroll reports (CPRs) and submit them to appropriate agencies and clients as required.
- Track job classifications, hours worked, and wage determinations for each prevailing wage project.
- Collaborate with project managers and HR to ensure accurate classification and wage compliance.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Stay current with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and prevailing wage determinations.
- Support internal and external audits, including DOL and state agency audits.
Qualifications
Required :
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR, or Business preferred.3+ years of payroll processing experience, including experience with prevailing wage jobs.Strong knowledge of Davis-Bacon and state-specific prevailing wage laws.Preferred :
Experience in the construction or government contracting industries.Familiarity with certified payroll software and electronic reporting (e.g., LCPtracker, eMars, Elation Systems).CPP or FPC certification is a plus.J-18808-Ljbffr
