Primary Duties
- Leads and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring extensive engineering expertise, maintaining up-to-date credentials in the specialized technical area.
- Leads and performs engineering tasks and projects that are complex or analytical, may include field testing, troubleshooting and peer review.
- Evaluates, develops, implements and leads projects with significant financial and operational impact; plans, writes and performs documentation deliverables and project tasks.
- Participates in department planning, site walkdowns, meetings, budget recommendations and performance monitoring to achieve committed results.
- Performs assignments independently and may lead multi-discipline teams; may provide direct oversight of contractors.
- Serves as an expert in a specialized area and may act as an expert witness or provide expert opinions as required.
- Provides recommendations to management and implements action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.
- Provides detailed technical training, mentorship and guidance to others; participates in technical societies and committees to stay current on new technologies and issues.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Licensed Professional Engineer; knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches and engineering theory.Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes, methods, and practices related to area of expertise.7+ years of professional engineering experience; thorough knowledge and experience in related areas. May include advanced degrees or professional licensure that reduce on-the-job training requirements.Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.Support for criteria such as lead member of recognized industry committee or Professional Engineer license; advanced technical degree, MBA or Project Management Certification may reduce OJT requirements.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.4+ years of project / site design in land development and mass grading.PE license preferred.Civil design experience including commercial and residential development, grading plans, utility design, stormwater management, drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater pollution prevention plans, and site development.Experience with project analysis, drawings, layouts, RFIs, field inspection and data analysis.Highway design experience (IDOT and Tollway projects) and parking lot design.Creating and reviewing technical specifications; independent reviews of work including calculations and drawings.Experience using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Suite.Ability to manage design timelines and construction deadlines; strong communication skills.Benefits
