SUMMARY OF
Paralegal needed, minimum of 3-5 years of insurance defense experience required. Hybrid work environment, allowing for remote work up to 2 days per week after satisfactory completion of training, with the other 3 days per week in our Southfield, Michigan office. Performs a variety of duties for assigned attorney(s) according to established policies and procedures. Maintains positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff and observes confidentiality of client matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
Drafts legal documents including routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; files motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provides written analysis to attorneys.
Reviews and summarizes medical records
Prepares damage analyses
Prepares summaries for Case Evaluation, Facilitation, and Arbitration under the direction of the attorney
Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves case files, which may include evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, exhibits, and other items.
Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
Develops and maintains records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
Works closely with Legal Assistants regularly to ensure all case calendars are updated and all necessary filings are timely
Serves as a resource for Legal Assistants regarding topics within their scope of work
Performs other related duties as assigned.
