An employee in this classification performs routine duties associated with daily Library operations, including circulation, reference, and general patron services; maintains an orderly facility and pleasant environment for patrons. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through observation, conferences, and review of completed work and reports.
This position will require the employee to work every Saturday morning, 8 : 30 a.m. – 12 : 30 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday, 4 : 00-7 : 00 p.m., and every Friday, 1 : 00 p.m. -6 : 00 p.m., for a total of 15 hours per week. Responsibilities
- Performs the full range of circulation desk procedures using an automated circulation system
- Assists patrons locate materials
- Assists patrons using public access computers
- Assists with library displays and special projects
- Types and files patron registration cards
- Assists in the processing of new acquisitions
- Telephones patrons for overdues, interlibrary loans, and reserves
- Shelves books and other library materials
- Reads stacks to keep books in order as assigned
- Assists with outreach programs
- Maintains library appearance including tidying reference and study areas, and grounds
- Assists other staff where necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
