Registered Nurse – CSICU (Cardiac ICU)

Facility : Mount Sinai Morningside

Location : 1111 Amsterdam Ave, New York, NY 10025

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day Shift (7 : 00 AM – 7 : 30 PM)

Schedule : 3 shifts / week, (3x12-hour shifts approx.) with weekend coverage required

Position Overview

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CSICU) at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s. The nurse will provide safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice to critically ill cardiac patients. Strong collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and adherence to Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care principles are essential. The unit operates on a Modified Primary Nursing Care Delivery Model with an average census of 17 patients. Weekend coverage is required.

Certifications & Requirements

RN License : New York State RN license required

Experience : Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Post Open Heart and Cardiac Care Units

Certifications :

BLS required

ACLS required

BSN preferred (Associate Degree with experience considered)

EPIC experience highly preferred

Travel experience of 1 year preferred

Skills & Competencies

Competency in cardiac and post-surgical critical care nursing

Ability to manage patient care using critical thinking and evidence-based practice

Skilled in patient and family education, communication, and advocacy

Experience with Modified Primary Nursing care model and resource management

Ability to perform charge nurse duties as needed

Proficient documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards

Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous professional development

Facility Type : Tertiary Care Hospital - Cardiology / Cardiovascular ICU

Patient Ratios : Approximately 1 nurse : 2-3 patients (based on acuity)

Weekend Coverage : Required every weekend

Floating : Not specified but may be required

Patient Age Groups : Adult cardiac surgical patients
