Bilingual Library Associate – Children’s Department

The Plainfield Public Library seeks a bilingual part-time Library Associate for the Children’s Department. This 24-hour / week position includes afternoon / evening hours and a Saturday rotation, with a pay rate of $25 / hour.

Summary :

Under the supervision of the Head of Youth Services, the Library Associate plans and implements programs for children (birth–grade 5), including storytimes, crafts, puppet shows, and STEAM activities. The role involves interacting with the community, assisting patrons, and maintaining a welcoming Children’s Department.Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present positive attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service.

Responsibilities :

• Plan and deliver children’s programs, including storytimes, crafts, and displays.
• Assist children and caregivers with library resources and services.
• Represent the library at outreach events.
• Provide library services at the desk, via email, and phone.
• Create booklists and book displays for children.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
