Are you fascinated by how financial institutions handle risk? The Risk Onboarding team is the front line of defense for preventing money laundering and financial crimes, building systems to verify that someone is who they say they are and that we are allowed to do business with them. Mercury is committed to crafting an exceptional banking experience for startups and building products that create a safe environment for customers, administrators, and regulators. Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

As part of this role, you will :

  • Build and evolve identity verification and monitoring systems, working with cross-functional partners to create an elegant system for customers and internal agents that meets and exceeds industry standards in security and user experience.
  • Join a team of experienced full‑stack product engineers growing from 3 to 5.
  • Take ownership and actively seek responsibility; Mercury self‑organizes on small to medium projects and seeks someone excited to shape Mercury’s future.
  • Collaborate with designers and product leaders to ship lovable and scalable experiences.

Ideal candidate

  • Has at least 5 years of full‑stack development experience, with interest in Haskell, React, and TypeScript. Comfortable onboarding to new languages, libraries, and mature codebases.

  • Empathizes with users and translates their perspective into lovable products.
  • Can balance tradeoffs and find creative solutions to achieve goals.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with peers and cross‑functional teams.
  • The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Salary and equity ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and updated using compensation survey data. New hire offers are based on experience, location, and internal pay equity.

    Location and compensation notes

Our target base salary ranges for this role are location dependent; examples include US employees in major cities and Canadian employees. Specific ranges will be discussed during the hiring process.
