Senior Research Engineer - Hypersonic

CFD Research is seeking a lead development and application of computational methods for hypersonic vehicle modeling and simulations. The candidate will be part of a team focused on physics-based modeling of multiple facets of hypersonic flight, including TPS aerothermal response, boundary layer modeling, material ablation and decomposition, hypersonic external flow modeling, flight trajectory modeling, Lagrangian particle tracking, signature modeling, and more. Candidate will support tasks focused on the development and application of multiple software tools ranging from CFD applications, reduced order modeling, and low- to medium-fidelity semi-empirical / analytical models. The candidate will be expected to assist leadership in providing regular direction to team members, communicating progress to customers, and developing proposals for future work. Requirements

• Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Position requires a Master's or PhD in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or related STEM discipline) and at least five years of relevant experience
• Candidate must have experience in compiled languages such as Fortran and / or C / C++ and knowledge of code compilation and development on Linux.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills is required.
