Job Description : INSPYR Solutions is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Architect for its oil and gas client in Houston, TX. This position is the highest individual contributor position within the organization, and candidates must have at least 12 years of cybersecurity experience to be considered. The Security Architect will play a hands-on role in developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's overall security architecture. This role requires a deep understanding of technology, software, and applications, along with the ability to align existing systems with best practices and industry frameworks. The ideal candidate will bring broad exposure to multiple environments—ideally from a consulting background—and have the tenure, technical expertise, and communication skills to both architect solutions and influence stakeholders. Key Responsibilities : Develop, implement, and maintain the overall security architecture to protect the organization's information assets and ensure alignment with business strategy and risk profile. Provide hands-on technical leadership ("hands on keyboard”) while overseeing both AWS and Azure security architects. Document current architectures and identify design gaps, recommending enhancements to align with industry frameworks and Zero Trust principles. Lead reviews of commercial technologies (not limited to security-specific tools) to ensure secure adoption and alignment with organizational standards. Support the implementation of cloud, AI, and data security strategies, including DLP and other data protection initiatives. Monitor security trends by attending security conferences, bringing back actionable knowledge, and advising leadership on emerging threats and technologies. Contribute to the development of security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulations and industry's best practices. Support incident response planning and execution, providing architectural expertise during investigations. Mentor and guide security team members, fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization. Qualifications : 20+ years of IT and security experience, with at least 15+ years in IT security & compliance and 5+ additional years of IT professional experience. Strong background in designing and implementing complex security architectures, including application, database, endpoint, network, cloud, and data security. Understanding of Zero Trust frameworks and the ability to apply them in complex enterprise environments. Experience in OT Security is a plus. Demonstrated success in aligning security programs with business objectives and risk management strategies. Strong understanding of data security concepts, including experience implementing DLP solutions. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and executive audiences. Proven ability to stay ahead of emerging threats and technologies, with experience translating conference insights into actionable strategies. Experience documenting processes, standards, and technical specifications, as well as developing system and network diagrams. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a track record of delivering practical solutions. Preferred : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related fields. Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GSLC, etc.). Active membership in professional security associations (ISSA, ISACA, InfraGard, etc.).
