SOFT's client is looking for a Principal Transmission Planning Engineer for a long term contract assignment. The successful candidate will be located in Little Rock, AR. Key Accountabilities
- Perform, lead, or facilitate engineering and transmission assessments and analyses.
- Support and advise on production cost modeling, economic and regional market evaluations to assist in key strategic insights, identify or confirm project opportunities and solutions.
- Apply innovative approaches to simulation and analysis that can help identify or support new initiatives.
- Lead technical analysis as needed to support potential project partnerships.
- Document, present and report findings and justifications. Help prepare executive summaries or investment committee papers.
- Support or lead on siting, permitting and licensing requirements and / or hearings, if required.
- Represent client interests on national, regional, and local levels when necessary.
- Oversee consultants, engineers or other subject matter experts as required to augment or complement the Business Development team.
- Work in a project team and matrix environment interacting with individuals across client functions in the US and UK. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields. Power systems focus desired.
- Strong experience in transmission system analysis required.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex model outputs into business insight & articulate the impact of results.
- Broad knowledge of US power industry standards, structures, policies, regulations & market fundamentals is essential.
- Familiarity with recent trends and technologies in electric transmission, onshore and offshore wind, other large-scale renewable generation, energy storage, conventional generation and emerging technologies.
- Strong track record of relevant professional experience in projects, including developing business cases, optioneering, data analysis, estimating and work structure planning.
- Flair for handling & manipulating data to forecast, derive trends and test sensitivities.
- Interest in offshore wind project development and execution.
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility based on personally derived recommendations.
- Computational literacy including handling large data sets is mandatory.
- Fundamental understanding of the components of electric transmission facilities including key risks and opportunities is required.
- Ability to develop tools and processes to facilitate best practice & knowledge sharing. Employment Type : Full Time Bonus / Commission : No
