What You Will Spark At Amplify
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager of Quality Lab to join our team. The Manager of Quality Lab will plan, implement and manage all aspects of the needed quality and control labs throughout the plant, ensuring all required standards are met and maintaining high-quality testing protocols for process and final product of battery cells. In the near term, the Manager of Quality Lab will establish the stage gate plan for Quality Control while building lab infrastructure, systems, and a team to support early production and customer needs. This includes defining setup requirements, procuring equipment, developing quality systems and KPIs, and onboarding a values-driven team. Long term, the role will shift to strategic leadership, continuous improvement, regulatory and customer alignment, talent development, and sustaining efficient production support.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up all quality labs and required quality test equipment to support a high-volume battery cell manufacturing facility.
- Identifying, procuring and commissioning of all required quality testing tools and equipment along with associated calibration equipment.
- Supervise and lead a team of quality technicians and other quality team members required to maintain the various quality testing and inspection labs.
- Train laboratory personnel on lab procedures / work instructions and best practices.
- Schedule staff, order supplies, maintain the health and safety protocols.
- Manage and maintain the laboratory's quality management system (QMS), including documentation control and record keeping.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and specialized software that affects quality results.
- Identify, create and manage all equipment and processes required for the storage and disposal of samples / lab materials.
- Review and approve validation protocols, reports, and test methods.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and address issues and risks.
- Monitor and evaluate quality metrics and performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
- Conduct audits and inspections to assess practices, procedures, and documentation to assure quality operations.
- Coordinate with other departments to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions; facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Collaborate with other teams to support new product development and validation.
- Provide statistical information for quality improvement by identifying testing methods and sampling techniques.
- Provide engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of measuring techniques.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data, making recommendations and improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent; Chemical Engineering preferred; Masters degree is a plus.Minimum of 6 years of hands-on manufacturing experience.Experience with new equipment design / installations and industrial engineering concepts (e.g., line balancing, timing charts).Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.Understanding of tolerance stack up and manufacturing equipment safety systems (Safety PLCs, safety categories, robot safety, safety guarding, etc.).Experience with MES and database system architecture and data tracking; Python and / or MySQL experience.Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills; data trending, document control, and technical bench skills.Structured problem solving and analytical skills with knowledge of DOE or sampling techniques.Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.Startup experience in a battery cell manufacturing facility is a plus.Mandarin language is a plus.Benefits
