Founded in 1986, St. Charles Community College (SCC) is one of the best two-year colleges in the state of Missouri. SCC serves more than 10,000 students in St. Charles County, a northwestern county outside of St. Louis, MO. SCC's main campus, located in Cottleville, houses 12 award-winning buildings known for innovative, contemporary "educational village" design and spans over 256 acres. A satellite campus is in Dardenne Prairie and features state-of-the-art Center for Healthy Living, encompassing allied health nursing programs, culinary studies, and agriculture studies. Other satellite locations include the Wentzville Technical Center, Commercial Driving School and the Innovation West Campus.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Support Specialist provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight to support students in allied health, nursing, culinary and agriculture programs. This role collaborates closely with internal departments and community partners to enhance enrollment, retention, and completion through strategic planning and proactive student services. The Specialist supervises a team of professional staff, collaborates with institutional stakeholders, and aligns service delivery with the college mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages departmental budgets and operational tools / solutions.
- Serves as a resource expert and support for students and complex service issues.
- Develops, enhances, and maintains comprehensive processes that ensure efficiency, accuracy, and a high level of student satisfaction that aligns with the college mission.
- Serves as a skilled project manager, overseeing initiatives from conception to completion, meeting deadlines, and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Utilizes data and feedback to identify improvement opportunities and streamline workflows.
- Balances attention to detail in alignment with the institutional mission and goals to support long-term student success strategies.
- Demonstrates strong institutional and operational understanding to align student services with college goals and effective resource use.
- Represents the college at prospective student recruitment events, as appropriate and participates in college committees, ceremonies, and other institutional events.
- Evaluates program admissions and registration processes, policies, data collection methods, and strategic initiative outcomes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Collaborates with Institutional Research to assess student service needs and to create strategic plans with actionable, measurable outcomes.
- Strategizes with student life and program leadership to support student organizations and facilitate engagement opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Dean and VP of External Campuses to establish strategic goals with defined, measurable outcomes.
- Oversees a proactive, intentional academic advising program aimed at increasing student retention and completion rates.
- Plans and hosts registration events and open houses to support enrollment and student engagement.
- Develops strong institutional acumen to better serve stakeholders and achieve desired outcomes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Generally, this position reports to the VP of External Campuses but may v ary upon organizational need.
