Overview
Fairview is looking for a Biomedical Electronics Tech OR Sr. Biomedical Electronics Tech OR Sr. Biomed Electronics Specialist to join the Fairview Southdale Hospital team in Edina, MN. The Biomedical Electronics role will inspect, repair, maintain, and calibrate basic clinical equipment, devices, systems, and instruments under supervision of the Manager and other more senior technicians. The role will interact on a routine basis with clinical health providers to identify technology-based problems and develop solutions. The role will participate in on-the-job training programs regarding technical, administrative, and customer service requirements.
Position Details
- 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- Day shift (7 : 00 AM – 3 : 30 PM)
- As needed weekends
- On-call shifts required, once every 5 weeks
Job Responsibilities
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on clinical and non-clinical equipmentResponds to emergency equipment failures as requested by hospital departmentsAssists with after-hours on-call dutyIdentifies and documents parts / supplies necessary to maintain equipmentExpedites shipment of equipment and parts to / from the hospital for repair / replacement to minimize downtimePerforms troubleshooting and repair on equipmentPerforms scheduled maintenance prior to installation and in accordance with established schedules and protocolsPerforms incoming inspections and maintains accurate inventory recordsCoordinates / monitors work performed by outside contractorsProvides in-services to equipment users and presents information clearlyContributes to special projects and keeps stakeholders informed of progressMaintains technical skills through training and self-studyCommunicates effectively with customers about work status and options during outagesCompletes repairs within 24 hours (when parts are available) or within 5 days if parts are orderedFollows through on projects to meet deadlinesMaintains a safe, clean, and organized workplaceIdentifies training needs of staff when operator errors are notedAdheres to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) and uses proper PPEReports unsafe conditions and performs repairs when possibleOpens and closes work orders accurately within required timesUses infection control precautions as necessaryMaintains documentation and record-keeping accuracyMaintains test equipment and work areas; demonstrates safety practices and universal precautionsManages resources and prioritizes workload; assists in ordering parts and suppliesSchedules and oversees third-party activities as neededWorks to achieve budgetary objectivesEducation
A.A. / A.S. 2-year associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent experienceExperience
