Admissions Specialist, Adult Degree Program (ADP)
The Admissions Specialist works closely with potential Adult Degree Program (ADP) students to guide them through the application process. Once an application is complete, the Admissions Specialist is responsible for ensuring the application is viewed by the Director or Associate Director for an admissions decision. After an admissions decision is made, the Admissions Specialist notifies the applicant, processes the application on CUNYfirst, and sends the file to main admissions for transfer credit evaluation. The Admission Specialist keeps detailed records tracking applicants, and coordinates follow-up and outreach. The Admissions Specialist provides essential data several times during each admissions period and again at the close of admission. The position requires strong data and computer skills, initiative, flexibility, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal with diverse individuals, and work collegially with other departments. Evening and / or weekend hours may be required.
Coordinates efforts of admissions and / or enrollment offices
Coordinates workshops, intake screenings, interviews and orientations for new students
Counsels prospective applicants on requirements and standards and provides general information on programs and services in person or by telephone, e-mail, or letter; conducts follow-up as needed
Assists in conducting open house sessions and orientations, including group sessions and programs at high schools and in the community at large
May provide front desk coverage during high peak periods
Assists with the day-to-day administration of an admissions or enrollment office, including scheduling, preparing, and distributing materials
Develops, maintains, and updates program databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy
Manages student information databases and resolves issues with student records and transactions
Provides direct student services and works collaboratively with other units to support admissions, advising, registration, and related activities
Ensures compliance with College, Federal, and New York State regulations and policies
Creates and updates content for web pages, bulletins, and other social media to ensure effective communications to students and campus community
Performs related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree
Previous Administrative or Supervisory experience
Superior organizational skills
