Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Advanced Certified Medical Assistant specializing in podiatry. This full-time, day-shift role offers the opportunity to provide compassionate patient care and support clinical staff in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

General Summary

The Medical Assistant operates within their scope of practice to assist licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers. Key qualities include strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and critical thinking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.
  • Provide direct patient interaction such as escorting patients, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, verifying medications and allergies, and documenting medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly.
  • Manage communication by routing phone messages, answering patient inquiries, and assisting with physician return calls.
  • Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.
  • Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Schedule appointments, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures as directed by providers.
  • Complete necessary paperwork including prior authorizations and referrals in a timely manner.
  • Maintain supply inventory, clean and stock exam rooms, and educate patients on electronic health record portal benefits.
  • Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.
  • Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain punctuality and attendance standards.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program or equivalent experience. High school diploma required.

Experience

At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist preferred. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.

Certification and Licenses

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited organization such as AMT is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements

Requires considerable mental focus. Physical demands include lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional hostile individuals. Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
