Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6542) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops and promotes a sales culture, and provides outstanding guest service experiences. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager and helps ensure a clean, organized store with an engaging guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors during every transaction, and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the shopping environment and current sales initiatives to build guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system, including correct changes, receipts, and bagging merchandise.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with company expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback, and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks / meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service; supervise in the Store Manager's absence.
- Approve payroll, manage time off, and confirm pay for all time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are functioning.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support achievement of sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative duties.
- Manage stock, restock shelves, and ensure products are represented and organized on the floor.
- Reconcile daily transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits as required.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report discrepancies to the Store Manager / District Manager.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists.
- Monitor associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills and Abilities
