Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking an accomplished Senior Network Security Engineer to drive the design, implementation, and operational excellence of critical infrastructure components underpinning OCI's DDOS protection and network security. In this role, you will leverage deep technical expertise to deliver secure and resilient solutions in a complex, globally distributed environment. This individual contributor position requires a forward-thinking problem solver with robust knowledge of network security, cloud architecture, and infrastructure automation.
As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will participate in the end-to-end lifecycle of networking security projects within the OCI Network Security Organization. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects align with broader organizational goals, focusing on long-term stability, scalability, and security of the networking infrastructure. Your technical expertise will be demonstrated through technical excellence, mentorship, and continual pursuit of innovation and best practices.
You will also work to enhance the team's technical knowledge base, leading by example in staying current with emerging DDOS, networking and security technologies. Your input will be key in maintaining engineering standards and continuously improving operational processes to raise the bar on security, performance, and reliability.
Your solutions and collaboration with other OCI teams will directly impact OCI's ability to deliver secure, highly available, and performant networking services to Oracle's global customer base.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and operate secure infrastructure services for DDoS mitigation and Network Security.
Develop Python-based automation tools for network and security operations at scale.
Contribute to architectural decisions, proactively identify risks, and provide mitigations for the security of OCI's global network.
Conduct security reviews, vulnerability assessments, and performance testing for critical infrastructure changes.
Continually evaluate and integrate emerging networking and security best practices.
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for network health and security posture.
Produce technical documentation, conduct incident response, and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
Qualifications
3-7 years of experience in network security engineering within large-scale, cloud, or internet service provider environments.
Demonstrable expertise in networking protocols (BGP, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, MPLS).
Demonstrable understanding of IP routing
Hands-on experience with large-scale DDoS protection technologies, data flow, and telemetry systems.
Advanced knowledge of network security architecture, performance characterization, and hands-on systems testing.
Proficiency in Python automation for infrastructure development and deployment.
Exceptional troubleshooting skills and experience with security incident response.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing technical documentation and contributing to cross-functional initiatives.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US : Hiring Range in USD from : $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off : Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
