About the Role :

The Refrigeration Tech 2 at the Tarboro Plant plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of refrigeration systems essential to retail operations. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex refrigeration equipment to prevent downtime and maintain product quality. The technician will work closely with maintenance teams to implement preventive maintenance schedules and respond promptly to emergency repairs. Success in this role directly impacts energy efficiency, safety compliance, and operational continuity within the plant. The Refrigeration Tech 2 is expected to apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills to support the plant’s refrigeration infrastructure effectively.

Minimum Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited refrigeration or HVAC technical training program.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with commercial refrigeration systems.
Valid EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications :

Associate degree or higher in HVAC, refrigeration technology, or a related field.

Experience working in a retail or industrial plant environment.

Advanced certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or equivalent.

Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Strong understanding of energy-efficient refrigeration technologies.

Responsibilities :

Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on refrigeration systems and related equipment to ensure efficient operation.

Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using specialized tools and equipment, and implement effective solutions.

Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to schedule and execute preventive maintenance tasks.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to support compliance and operational tracking.

Ensure all work complies with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Skills :

The required skills enable the technician to effectively diagnose and repair refrigeration systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills are applied daily to identify issues and implement corrective actions. Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations ensures compliance during maintenance and repair activities. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with CMMS, enhance the technician’s ability to document work and schedule preventive maintenance efficiently. Additionally, advanced certifications and experience with energy-efficient technologies support continuous improvement and innovation within the refrigeration systems.
