Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a R&D Scientist job for our direct client in Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will assist in the validation and performance of clinical laboratory tests supporting the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of human disease. The position is ideal for an experienced scientist with strong backgrounds in Immunology, Mass Spectrometry, or related fields who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

R&D Scientist Job Responsibilities :

  • Execute laboratory experiments efficiently, following required procedures and protocols
  • Maintain proper documentation of all experimental work in scientific notebooks
  • Prepare specimens for analysis and organize tests to be performed
  • Apply thorough knowledge of test methodologies and quality control practices
  • Participate in clinical sample processing, analysis, and interpretation of results
  • Support preparation of scientific documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot laboratory instruments as needed
  • Prepare, label, and maintain reagents for laboratory testing
  • Verify instrument functionality through calibration and data documentation
  • Participate in the training of new employees and promote knowledge sharing
  • Demonstrate scientific curiosity by exploring literature to support experimental design
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety policies and immediately address potential hazards
  • Maintain clear communication with leadership and team members

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Immunology, Mass Spectrometry, or related fields
  • Experience in assay development or clinical diagnostics strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-paced environment
