American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry ER Hold position with strong cardiac telemetry skills and weekend shift requirements.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital setting in the ED Holds / Telemetry unitPatient population consists of ED holds awaiting inpatient placement, primarily MS / Telemetry casesNurses manage cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone, and must titrate per physician ordersNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 412-hour night shifts with self-scheduling options, subject to change; 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduleFloating required to med / surg, telemetry, overflow units, and sister emergency departments as neededNo on-call requirementsUses Cerner EMR system; experience preferredTwo-shift orientation provided for Med / Surg / Tele at primary campusNavy scrubs are requiredRNs will provide care for patients holding in the ED pending unit placement, focusing on cardiac telemetry assessment and monitoringNurses will assist with ED patients, including vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not be assigned primary ED patientsUnit is supported by ED charge nurses and PCTsNo respiratory ventilation equipment is used on this unitHoliday coverage will rotate in with permanent staffRNs are first to float if requiredTesting requirements include successful completion of sterile technique assessment for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes during orientationFailure of required tests on the second attempt will incur a 6-month ineligibility for CommonSpirit Sacramento region and Arizona positions\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license, either state-specific or Compact (NLC); pending licenses will not be consideredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMinimum of 2 years' strong cardiac telemetry nursing experience requiredAbility to read and interpret telemetry strips independentlyMust pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start with a maximum of two attemptsMust pass a pass / fail SIM LAB on first day of orientationMust be able to titrate cardiac drips and decrease drips according to physician's parametersDriver’s license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 yearsCandidates must not have been directly employed by the associated health system (CHI, Dignity, CommonSpirit) within the past yearFor AZ state, candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
