Store Director
The Store Director is a highly dynamic leader responsible for total store leadership and financial success storewide. Inspires, influences, and develops the people they lead. Acts as a direct leader, mentor, and supervisor for the Assistant Store Director (ASD), Store Administration Director (SAD), Store Team Leader (STL), and Department Team Leaders (DTL), equipping them to serve and add value at the highest levels. Relentlessly inquisitive, the Store Director thinks strategically and operationally by translating strategic ideas into actionable decisions. Immerses themselves in all parts and processes of the business and works with team members storewide to achieve success. Ensures the highest level of guest and team member satisfaction, while implementing and upholding all operational standards, programs, and policies. The Store Director (SD) facilitates effective succession planning, career-pathing, and performance development for team members throughout the store. Inspirationally leads team members to embrace and connect with company culture, Mission Statement, and Guiding Principles in meaningful and impactful ways.

- Provides mentorship and direct leadership for ASD, SAD, STL, and DTLs with clear direction, regular performance coaching, honest and direct feedback, and thoughtful well-memorialized professional development plans with specific success measurements.
- Oversees and actively leads, as beneficial, recruiting and hiring efforts for entire store; fills open positions with highly capable and qualified individuals.
- Identifies in-store talent and actively develops team members in career pathing and personal development. Prepares team members for advancement or promotion within the organization.
- Provides key leadership in employee relations, including team member coaching, counseling, and corrective action. Leads and actively participates in employee issue fact-finding and resolution.
- Creates a culture of safety within their store. Leads by example in demonstrating a commitment to safety excellence, fostering a culture where safety is ingrained in every aspect of daily operations.
- Proactively and effectively addresses operations issues, mitigating risk, and managing situations that result in the best possible outcomes for the Company, guests, and team members.
- Closely monitors store performance compared to prior year and budgeted goals, including sales, labor, gross profit, operational and selling supplies, shrink / waste, EBITDA, and EBIT. Ensures all financial targets are achieved each fiscal period, quarter, and year; is accountable for individual store results.
- Identifies opportunities to maximize the guest experience and create an environment where all guests feel welcome, important, and appreciated. Exercises curiosity, creativity, and innovation to develop new programs and solutions.
- Invests the time necessary to develop ASD in all areas of merchandising, guest satisfaction, product quality, and retail store conditions. Promotes an environment of continual learning, where ASD possesses all of the necessary skills and knowledge to provide a world class guest and team member experience, renowned as the gold standard across all retail sectors.
- Actively and continuously assesses retail sales floor conditions compared to company standards for product presentation, quality, and freshness. Empowers teams to react to changes in daily business needs by reestablishing priorities and reallocation of resources.
- Responsible for store level compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Understands and applies applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions.
What We're Looking For
Minimum five years of successful experience as a key leader in a high-volume, guest service driven, retail food environment required.Minimum two years of skilled performance as a total store leader in high-volume, guest service driven, retail food environment strongly preferred for externally hired team members.Successful experience as a Metropolitan Market Assistant Store Director required for career pathing of internal team members.Highly-developed professional judgment, with proven history of critical thinking and decision making. Effectively assesses situations, information, and available resources, taking timely appropriate action.Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing environments.Works collaboratively while building trust-based relationships with team members.Possesses insatiable curiosity; uses creativity to overcome unexpected challenges.Supermarket financial statement understanding; successful experience with profit and loss control at a department level, minimum.Proven ability to positively affect sales generation and superior guest relations.Role models team member behaviors and brings out the best in others.Comprehensive knowledge of grocery store operations, systems, and industry standards.Ability to remain flexible; embraces change as an opportunity for growth.Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation; takes initiative; problem solves.Possesses comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train team members and best serve guests.Ability to effectively delegate and follow-through.Excellent communication skills.
